Preparing for an Event or Activity

Clients also come to us looking for help preparing for a specific event or activity.

A great example of this was a recent client of ours who was preparing for the Great North Run.

He was having problems with his hamstrings and he was struggling to get the miles in, in preparation for the race.

One approach would be to simply release the tension in his hamstrings and send him on his way, but we like to do more than that, we like to look for a long term solution and not just a quick fix.

We worked with him to not only help release the initial tension in his hamstrings and aid him with his training, but also looked at his physical wellbeing from the point of view of a runner.

In particular we looked at exercises / movements that would help that realign his knees and reduce the stress on them during running (something that was identified during the initial consultation)

We also gave him techniques he could carry out himself, techniques he could use during the race to help him get to the finish line.

Being the best you can be

For those of our clients who want to feel their best self once more, reduce their aches and pains and increase their energy levels, we start with our version of an MOT, and this is where some of the tools we use really come to the fore.

Bad posture can have a serious knock-on effect on your overall health and we are keen to demonstrate exactly how this is affecting people and how this can be improved. The earlier a posture problem is identified, the more we can do to help, but it is never too late.

Posture ProTM Diagnostic Imaging

Posture ProTM Diagnostic Imaging analysis measures alignment of the spine and joints of the body and helps diagnose the causes of pain in the back, neck and shoulders.

Using a digital photograph taken against a grid, the software analyses your posture and identifies any imbalances or deviation of the head, spine and pelvis.

It provides visual representation and a score from ‘0’ – no misalignment whatsoever up to ’30’ and above for serious misalignment. The higher the number, the greater the misalignment.

The Posture Pro system has significant advantages as a diagnostic technique as it works in cases where X-rays are not effective e.g. identifying a slipped disc.

The power of this system is evidently recognised because each month over one million Posture Pro examinations are performed by 10,000 practitioners in 45 countries.

AcuGraph Diagnostic Imaging

AcuGraph Diagnostic Imaging analysis measures blood flow and nerve function. It takes readings at a variety of acupuncture points discovered over the last millennia by the Chinese.

Measuring blood flow and the electrical impulses within the nervous system, to determine the energy within each meridian* and compare that with baseline values (based on millions of readings) to determine the relative energy level.

The graph it produces is useful in highlighting any weaknesses, imbalances or places where nerves are over-stimulated due to compression, swelling, stress and posture distortions, so we can then prescribe the appropriate treatment.

*According to Chinese medicine, meridians run through the body and relate to parts of the body / bodily functions and it is these that the likes of acupressure and acupuncture work on. (It can sound a little odd to us westerner’s but if you look at how well the Chinese population ages, they are doing something right).

Take the next step...

We offer a free 30 minute consultation, during which we complete an initial diagnostic; taking into account any specific concerns you may have, whilst looking at your mental and physical well-being as a whole.

We then use the diagnotic to identify which combination of treatments will work best for you and a discuss a potential plan of action.

As an option we will then complete a physical examination including Posture Pro™ and AcuGraph diagnostics, before agreeing the next steps.

Indeed if time permits, many of our clients choose to begin their treatment there and then.
